On my most recent quick trip to Dallas my first shoot was with some of my favorite clients whom I also consider friends! It has been fun to see them when I make it back to Dallas and to watch their family grow. This particular morning was cold and windy, but they were all troopers and did a great job!
Aren’t they a gorgeous family?

Beautiful Mom and daughter.
I had to share this last one. I love the look on big brother’s face, as if he is thinking “I used to rule this place! How did I get it this situation with two new sisters?!”

Thanks for another super fun shoot!

Wow – where has the month gone!! I have been so busy with work, travel, kids, school, soccer etc. that this poor blog gets neglected. Good news is that it is going to be getting lots of love over the next few weeks! Stay tuned!

First, I am SO excited to show you this amazing little 3 year old girl. She is another absolutely adorable heart baby I was able to work with through the local charity Saving Little Hearts. She has been through so much in her first 3 years of life – too many surgeries for such a little girl – but her spirit is just busting out of her! I was in complete awe of both her and her mother, who humbled me with her strength and love. I left their home with with a new perspective and a new attitude.
When I first got there, she wasn’t quite sure what I was up to.

After about 1 minute I was deemed O.K., and next thing I knew I was being introduced to animals (both stuffed and real), being given tours of the playhouse, picking flowers, and getting my ear talked off. I LOVED every minute of it!

putting flowers in our hair!

Trying to climb probably the biggest tree in the yard. Fearless, determined.

Two more I must share. Try to not smile – I am telling you now, it is impossible.

And THIS. I could stare at this all day. Can’t you just *see* her soul in those eyes? Stunningly beautiful.

Now, some important stuff. As healthy as she looks, she still has a long road ahead of her with more surgeries. Please be sure to keep this sweetie and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you Miss A. for letting me play with you, I had the best time. I hope we can play together again soon!

I have been working recently with a great organization based here in Knoxville – Saving Little Hearts. They are “dedicated to helping children with congenital heart defects and their families by providing emotional assistance and educational information primarily through the distribution of Care Packages”.
This was one of my first sessions for Saving Little Hearts, and I couldn’t have had more fun! This little ball of energy was actually a BIG ball of energy! It is hard to believe he was ever sick. Isn’t he so adorable?

There is just something about boys and their trains!

This just cracks me up everytime I see it!

It is obvious what a close, fun and sweet relationship he has with his mom! Tickle attack!

Life is good.

I met this amazing family not through work, or friends, but through my youngest son. He met their oldest son in his very first preschool class when we first moved to Dallas. They became fast friends, inseparable. I have to admit that their friendship was one of the things that made our decision to move away from Dallas so difficult. It was the kind of friendship where I could easily see them buddying around 30 years from now, with families of their own. Sigh.
Anyway – here is their fabulous family. So much love and happiness for each other and for life. Can’t you just feel it?

Love this series below – a passionate discussion about Star Wars.

The youngest son…I could just EAT HIM UP! So adorable and funny – he kept giving me the wink/thumbs up. Mr. Cool!

The oldest, my son’s best friend. So sweet, I can hardly stand it. And is that not the best toothless grin EVER?

So handsome and thoughtful.

Finally, mom and dad. If only every couple could be so in love, what a wonderful world this would be!

It is so wonderful when you cross a family that is just so genuinely happy and has a wonderful love of life. You can image my excitement when I heard they were adding twins to their already beautiful family of three. I was even more thrilled that I got a chance to meet their sweet, adorable baby girls on my last trip to Dallas.

How many times in life will this happen? When things are feeling a little unsteady, mom is always quick to offer her hand, her support, her love.

They just adored their big brother!

And of course, I could never forget big brother. Cuter than ever, and faster than ever!
Last time I photographed him he was just about 1 year old…it is very bittersweet to see all the wonderful kids I meet growing up. I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to capture these precious and fleeting moments in life!

Well, who’s bright idea was it to start a new blog two weeks before the beginning of summer vacation? Me! I must apologize in advance for the sporadic posting that will be occurring in the next few months. It is without regret though, because as much as I love photography, I love the freedom, the exploration, the adventure and the discoveries of summer more. With 7 and 9 year old boys, summer has taken on a whole new beauty for me. For some reason this year I am acutely aware that their youth and my participation in it is a narrowing window. That said, I plan to camp, find bugs, dig in the dirt, swim, make s’mores, explore creeks, and enjoy the lazy days as much as possible.
I suggest you do the same. Live and love your life, it is a gift!

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time. ~John Lubbock
